Insight and inspiration on the future of community and spirituality

My work explores how we’ll make meaning, deepen our relationships, and experience beauty in the 21st century. Whether convening, studying, writing, or speaking; I’m always weaving together tradition and innovation, levity and profundity, the secular and the sacred.

At my best, I find ways to ennoble the everyday and create the conditions for joyful belonging. I believe in the transforming power of small groups, the vitality of commitment, and the liberating potential of good theology. I delight in talking with soulful corporate leaders about ancient wisdom and with forward-thinking religious leaders about trends shaping our culture.

I’m the author of The Power of Ritual, the co-founder of The Nearness, Sacred Design Lab and the podcast Harry Potter and the Sacred Text.

My work has been featured in the New York Times, Washington Post, VICE and on NPR and I’ve spoken widely on community trends, ritual, and emerging spirituality at The Aspen Ideas Festival, Cannes Lions Festival, Stanford University and numerous religious institutions.

What Makes a Casper

I hold Masters degrees in Divinity and Public Policy from Harvard University and am indebted to the many mentors, teachers, and co-creators who’ve shaped my work–particularly those at Harvard Divinity School, where I served as a Ministry Innovation Fellow from 2016-2021.

You’ll find me happiest when I’m harmony folk singing, keeping my tech sabbath, or stopping for a tea break on a long country walk. Although originally from England and Holland, I now live with my husband in Brooklyn, NY. I’m represented by Writers House and WME.
